Monday Morning Munch No. 136 – Traveling and Scribbles

When this blog is published, I’ll be getting off a plane in London.

The next two weeks will be spent with my bff touring parts of England that we’ve dreamed of exploring for five years, eating as much food as we can stomach (get it? hahaha) and hugging as many strangers as possible (except Haley will kill me so I’ll just hug them in my mind… which sounds so creepy).

ANYWAY, I wanted to keep up the Monday Morning Munches so here is one of my all time favorite quotes by one of my all time favorite people (and it’s fitting because we’ll be going to Oxford next week. Cue all the excited squeals):

“A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell.” -C. S. Lewis

Coffee Break: Meet My Best Friend

Time for a coffee break.

Take your coffee with a side of good reading, why don’t you? In these random coffee break blogs you’ll find some quotes, links to other blogs, or Q&As with other people, starting with this one.

Meet My Best Friend

World, meet Haley. She is my other half, the one with whom I share everything (including a love of writing, Gilmore Girls, Jane Austen, British period films, traveling and queso), and my fellow over-thinker.

Also, today is her 23rd birthday. Eeee! *throws confetti*

She's a beaut.

She’s a beaut.

Is it possible for someone to be your exact opposite but your identical at the same time? Because that’s our friendship to a T.

Haley is a learner, a dreamer, and a doer. She is intelligent and giving and hilarious and wonderful and so worth knowing. Get to know her more in the following Q&A.

Monday Morning Munch No. 124 – For Your Reading Pleasure

It’s been a little while since we did a smorgasbord blog (check out previous ones here, here and here) so let’s share some link love and get some mutual edification up in this place.

“Sell everything and buy wisdom.” -Proverbs 4:5, MSG
“A wise person knows there is something to be learned from everyone.”
“Knowledge without humility is vanity.” – A.W. Tozer

6 Costs of Real Friendships by Jen Thorn

This. All of it (especially No. 3 and 4). Straight to my heart. Check out a snippet:

Everyone has a dark side. Sin is the great equalizer and our common enemy. Friendship is designed, among other things, for growth in godliness. This means friends help each other identify and fight sin (Eccl. 4:9–12). Doing this requires you knowing their heart and them knowing yours. There must be a willingness to open up our lives and hearts and to let others in. We need to share the good, the bad, and the ugly. Intimacy must be a part of friendship, and it must go both ways.

Smorgasbord – A blog of blogs

I love reading and lately, on top of some really awesome books, I’ve been digging into some awesome blogs.

You may have read one or all of them already, but if you need some reading material, I present you with the following.

What are you reading?

Redeem the Rejection of Singleness by Fabienne Harford

You will waste the rejection of singleness if you let the pain drive you to seek affirmation of worth from people instead of God. God has designed this beautiful gift of singleness to highlight your need to be chosen and to underline the inadequacy of people to fill that need. Don’t be ashamed by your hunger to be wanted and chosen. Don’t try to cover or conceal or fill it with positive thinking or encouragement from mortal men. Let it drive you to cling to the God who has chosen you at great cost.

Let no one except God have the power to determine your worth. Let no covenant, other than the New Covenant with Christ, satisfy your need to be chosen.
